How to Improve Your Health

Basic Tips to Living Healthier Each Day

Drink water frequently throughout the day. Your body needs adequate fluid to function properly. Having an adequate level of fluid in your body decreases your chances of dehydration, and helps clear toxins from your system. Water is considered highly effective in helping you to lose weight because it aids in cleansing out your body of the toxic fats.

How much water is enough? Generally advised is at least 8 cups each day. If that may be a bit much for you, then substitute with other healthy beverages that are low in sugars, such as pure fruit juices or energy drinks. (If you are concerned about the quality of water in the area you live, try drinking purified water or distilled water that contains less chemicals and contaminants that are found in tap water.)

Eat leaner foods and avoid fried food. Instead of batter-dipped and deep-fried go for broiled or baked to minimize your fats intake. Coatings and batter give you nothing but excessive calories, carbohydrates and salt that will all add up to putting more weight on you. The oil and grease used to fry such foods can bog you down with more calories and fats. Sure, who doesn't like french fries and batter-dipped fish, but oh what they will do to your overall health. Let your body tell you how you feel by taking a test drive with eating two days without any greasy foods. On that third day you will feel more energetic and not have that bloated full feeling that gives you the slows.

Eat vegetables and fruits every day to provide your body fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Fresh vegetables and fruits are considered better for you, with darker vegetables providing more nutrient value. Organically grown produce is preferred by many people because they want produce that is free of chemical treatments.

Get enough sleep each night. You know your body needs sleep to function well - so be good to yourself by sleeping until you feel well rested (for most people that means 7 - 9 hours at a time). Sure, that's not always easy with your busy lifestyle.  When you don't get enough sleep it decreases your mental alertness and can lead to serious health problems.

Exercise regularly.  A 30-minute walk one to three times a day is most often recommended; however, many people say they can't do that. That doesn't mean you have to run a marathon. Just make some changes to your daily routine such as: When shopping park further from the store and walk. Add some stretching exercises throughout the day while sitting or standing. Instead of always trying to save steps walking, do it the other way around by doing your tasks to add extra walking.

Take time to relax and relieve stress. You deserve to have some time to indulge yourself in relaxation. You need to give your body a break from daily stresses. It will make you feel more refreshed and your body will feel better, too. Each person has different ways to unwind and relax - think about what works for you and do it more often.

Avoid toxins and chemicals that are harmful to your body. Not only can they be in your food but also in the air you breathe and products you use daily. There are many safer cleaning methods than to use toxic commercial chemical cleaners. For example, baking soda and vinegar works wonders for cleaning. It is far better to use than a commercial drain cleaner to rid your drains of harmful mold. The list on substituting natural cleaners instead of harmful chemicals goes on and on, so I won't elaborate here and save that topic for a future article.
